Massage Techniques

Swedish Massage is a technique that relaxes muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones which provides relief from stress, stiffness, numbness, pain, constipation, and other health problems. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It improves circulation when performed on a regular basis


Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue Massage is aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also more focused on release of chronic muscle tension or knots also known as adhesions. When there is chronic muscle tension or deep tissue injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and press on nerves, which causes pain, limited movement, and inflammation. Deep tissue massage therapy works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.



Sports Massage is group of massage techniques specifically designed to aid in athletic performance. Includes preevent, interevent, and postevent massage, and maintenance and injury massage or training. It consists of specific components designed to reduce injuries, alleviate inflammation, provide warm-up, etc. for amateur and professional athletes before, during, after, and within their training regimens.

It is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. There are three contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment.  For athletes, it is  aimed at either preparing the muscles and joints for athletic activity or helping in recovery from the stress and strain associated with athletics.


Postural Corrective

Postural Corrective Massage is designed to counteract harmful muscle imbalances that result in poor body posture. With the repetitiveness of occupation and daily activities, pain occurs due to imbalances created by overuse of certain muscles and under use of others. Our body posture provide’s a window into musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.

Corrective massage is different from the typical spa massage in that corrective massage is focused on results. The emphasis in corrective massage is to create efficient alignment of your bones and muscles. The results are freedom from pain and increased range of motion. The corrective massage therapist’s goal is to establish the root cause of musculo-skeletal pain and dysfunction and to eliminate it.

Chronic conditions develop over time, and will often require multiple sessions to change the patterns and posture of your body.
